Braga is a city and a municipality, capital of the northwestern Portuguese district of Braga and of the historical and cultural Minho Province. Braga Municipality had a resident population of 212 635 inhabitants. Its area is 183.40 km2. Its agglomerated urban area extends to the Cávado River and is the third most populated urban area in Portugal, behind Lisbon and Porto Metropolitan Areas.

Braga is a city with a rich history that dates back to Roman times. As you walk through the streets, you'll see the influence of ancient civilizations in the city's architecture, including the famous Roman ruins of the Cividade de Briteiros. The city also played an important role in the Christianization of Portugal, and you'll find a number of stunning churches and religious sites throughout the city.

One of the most popular attractions in Braga is the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary. This stunning site is located on a hill overlooking the city and features a Baroque staircase with 573 steps that leads up to the sanctuary. At the top, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the city and surrounding countryside.
